The air is cold, the ground is damp with dew, and the entire world feels like it is waiting for a spark.

In those woods, life makes sense.

For ten years, the 906 area code wasn’t just a location on a map to me—it was home. It was where I built a farm, raised my family, and watched my setters work wild grouse under a blazing autumn canopy. But life rarely follows a straight, predictable trail. Through a season of profound fracture, that farm was lost, and a sudden detour pulled me thousands of miles away to temporary anchor here in Pennsylvania. It was a departure born of family duty, not my own desire, but the compass of my heart hasn’t shifted an inch.

The goal has always been, and remains, the road back to those northern pines.

That is why A Sojourner’s Tale exists, and why this Field Log is officially live tonight.
